Rob Schlegel is a Lambda Board Member, the organization’s treasurer and usually emcees the monthly lunches. He’s the guy who talks a lot and keeps the lunch program moving along.
Rob has a journalism background, having served as the de facto general manager for the Valley Times (daily) newspaper. He has owned and edited several publications in Southern Nevada, including 16 years as publisher of the Las Vegas Bugle, the LGBTQ newspaper for Southern Nevada from 1985 to 2002.
Schlegel has been active in politics and has chairs Nevada Impact, the LGBTQ political endorsement committee. He has actively lobbied for reforms in Nevada, especially as laws relate to social justice and equality-based civil rights.
As a community leader, he participated in numerous charitable events and organizations. Previously he served ten years on the board for Community Counseling Center, the ACLU of Nevada, Nevadans for Constitutional Equality, The (LGBTQ) Center and was a founder and past president of the LGBTQ pride organization in Las Vegas. He also founded Bright Pink Literature, Las Vegas’ feminist, gay, lesbian and recovery bookstore.
Currently, Rob sells real estate through Elite Realty. In addition to serving on the Lambda board, he is also chairman of the board for Bridge Counseling and serves on the board for Bright Star Foundation, an organization for homeless LGBTQ youth.
Rob Schlegel is married to Lucas Navarro-Schlegel and lives in Las Vegas.
